Big Brother 10: Jerry Jerking And Renny Wailing I didn't think Jerry would be able to top himself in the buffoon department. I was wrong. His fetish for damning Dan seemed to vibrate with a morbid intensity as when he celebrated Michelle's HOH victory — walking toward Dan with that oafish gait, finger jabbing the air, croaking, "You're going home!" With all the obnoxious noisy bravado of a schoolyard bully. Big Brother 10: Jerry The Jerk I know I am delving into the murky past but...I liked Brian. He seemed normal enough: an Air Force brat, perhaps a bit too cocky and arrogant for his britches. But a nice guy nonetheless. No bulging machine-fed muscles or pink hair or tattoos or jingling body trinkets. Just a normal guy. A Brian. A nice future game show host. The Bachelorette: Finale: DeAnna And The Alternative World America has changed. Male and female roles have changed. Romantic, marital and sexual motivations have changed. I realize things began changing big time 30 to 40 years ago but you just saw the reality-televised crystallization of that change during the Finale of DeAnna Pappas' role as The Bachelorette on ABC. The Bachelorette: DeAnna Mired In The Fog Of War Forgive me but I've always yearned to point out that Bachelor Executive Producer Mike Fleiss is responsible for some of the most disgusting motion pictures ever made — including the slaughter-snuff-porn Hostel autopsy epics. USA Network Launches Character Arcade On the heels of a successful foray into casual gaming this past November, USA Network's casual gaming site, Character Arcade, will expand its core offerings to position the site for growth. New features to include 20+ new games, community features and an affinity program. The Character Arcade can be found at here and currently features over 25 character-based flash games – a combination of show-themed applications (e.g. Monk-shui and Psych In Training) and original takes on popular online games (e.g. Character Sudoku and Character Solitaire). Big Brother 9: Finale: Ryan Sweats Away His Victory I thought Ryan had the edge. Despite Ryan's botched beginnings — spurred along by his girlfriend, Jen — watching the last few weeks of Big Brother 9 one must concede that Ryan held the upper hand when it came to game control and strategy. He had his embedded micro-plans and he masterfully kept to them — playing all sides simultaneously: Joshuah, Natalie, Sharon, Sheila, Adam, even James — almost effortlessly. He won many of the competitions with equal flair. Big Brother 9: The Massive Power Shift To King Ryan "Why did you guys do this to me?" Natalie gasped repeatedly and painfully. The "boys" weren't saying much and Sheila was looking on smugly. Adam attempted to console Natalie more than the others — hugs! — even going so far as to silently mouth the words, "I voted for you" to her while still sitting on the couch. He remained the good Christian. Big Brother 9: Sheila Gets Big Head And Decks Natalie Sheila reminds me of a strung-out waitress at a sloppy joe diner. Talking, yelling, she croaks like Popeye. Give her a corncob pipe and a wooden leg. She has the testosterone of a dozen men coursing through her glands. Is she a model or a thug from the Chinese Paramilitary doing Olympic Torch duty? Interview With Free Spirited David From The Real World: Hollywood Tonight the shit hits the fan when seven strangers move into The Real World: Hollywood house. Sure to be filled with lots of drama and many memorable moments The Real World: Hollywood is a season not to be missed. It all starts tonight at 10 PM ET/PT on MTV. We recently caught up with Dave and asked him about everything from why he applied to be on The Real World, to what he is doing now. Interview With "Quirky" Sarah From The Real World: Hollywood Seven strangers, in Hollywood, one house, alcohol, raging hormones, big personalities, and even bigger drama (how’s that for a synopsis?). Tomorrow night (April 16) all of it combines when The Real World: Hollywood premieres on MTV at 10 PM ET/PT. If you’re like me, I couldn’t wait for the premiere. I recently caught up with Sarah and asked her about everything, from her Hollywood experience, to what she thinks about her now former roommates. Big Brother 9: Adam Feels The James Pain Adam is a sensitive guy. He's not a Prince Charming and rather more like the frog, but his heart is as big as the moon. You can tell he feels for people. One can guess that growing up with that awkwardly rugged mug of his, and those growing deer-in-the-headlights eyes, ah, he must have been the brunt of a few blunt chards of childish ridicule. Big Brother 9: James: The Mohawk, The Tattoo, The Tears... It's easy to find James annoying because frankly he's annoying to look at. It isn't only his mohawk or the fact that he's dyed his meager strip of hair red, or pink, but it's mostly that bow tie tattoo that he's etched just below his clavicle that makes my skin crawl. Each time I see it I squirm. Big Brother 9: Super-Natalie To The Rescue! A couple of weeks back I was about to fade into a deep slumber...Big Brother 9 was proving a bit tedious with their couples launch — it was beginning to feel like I was eavesdropping on a bunch of married bores in suburbia — and no one was strategically proving themselves worthy of my rapt attention. There was the obligatory spillage of big breasts and such...but somehow, someway, even that wasn't enough. Big Brother 9: Joshuah Is Straight; Matt Is Gay? A sensationalistic title?! It is a little strong, a little too literal...But it is patently ironic that we recently witnessed the gay Joshua happily enshrouding his new female partner, Sharon, in a manly protective cocoon. And, on the other hand, seeing the uber-heterosexual Matt get misty-eyed and pouty when his buddy Alex was booted out; giving him a soft peck on the neck and broadcasting to Julie and America that, "I love you, Alex." It was heartbreaking! Big Brother 9: Lesbians, Bibles and Poor Adam The "soulmate" concept worked for about twenty minutes. As soon as Adam and Sheila became hitched — and Sheila began her croaking and gagging — it was obvious something was broken. The thrill of the first few moments of bright lights and television production for a cast of youthful peacocks "looking for love" and who were then supposedly thrown together with their dream sidekicks was a potentially titillating nuance in the Big Brother playbook. Interview With Frank Roessler From The Gauntlet III We recently got to catch up with Frank Roessler from The Gauntlet III (which premieres tonight at 10 PM EST) and The Real World: Las Vegas. We discuss everything from dating to what he thinks of his fellow cast mates. The Amazing Race 12: Happy Birthday! Nathan & Jennifer's Freak Out From the start Nathan & Jennifer didn't seem serious. In a taxi, in second place, careening to the Umeda Sky Building, Nathan & Jennifer joked with an easy sway about TK & Rachel being over three hours behind. Ho, ho! The Final Three prize loomed as an inevitability. It was theirs. Ah, the sunny determination of youth...to live forever! These other fuddy-duddies? No problem. The Amazing Race 12: TK & Rachel Face Calamity But Sparkle & Shine If you would ask me which one of the remaining four teams on The Amazing Race 12 I have a fancy for I would have to think about this for quite a while. If one team should win and others lose, it would matter little. This Season's teams remain, for the most part, for me, an enigma. There has been no one who routinely stood out in terms of strategy, personality or nerve. Until now... The Amazing Race 12: Nathan & Jennifer Escape Certain Death The incredibly silly mind games of Kynt & Vyxsin were no more better on display than on this sweeping and frantic Amazing Race episode through the barrens of India. The Amazing Race 12: Kynt & Vyxsin Hit The Wall I have a good friend who beckons from Dubrovnik, Croatia. He says his country is every bit as luxuriously quaint as the postcard-esque seaside oasis we saw in the next-to-last episode of The Amazing Race. He also confirmed the anal-retentive nature of the Dubrovnik taxi drivers. You see, their cabs are their temples — badges of honor and pride. They are meticulously maintained. A body dripping liquids — like those of Nathan and Jennifer's — would most definitely be banned, in most cases, from taking a seat within. The Amazing Race 12: The Descent Into Shake Your Booty At the start of the third leg of The Amazing Race 12 we saw Ronald and Christina squeezed into a tiny Durgerdam hotel room, video floodlights cascading. And some guy in a casual sport coat was squatting on the dingy floor speaking to Ron about "pushing the tissue back into your abdomen.." obviously prescribing services for Ron's bothersome hernia. The Amazing Race 12: Amsterdam With The Real Truth Flavor Kynt & Vyxsin were agog that they were headed for Amsterdam. The "hippies", TK and Rachel, were equally moved — Rachel barking with expected retro-bliss, "Amsterdam, that's going to be bitchin." Kynt — or is it Kunt? — said, "I really can't wait to get to Amsterdam...I know they are going to love Vyxsin and I there." The Amazing Race 12: Going To Ireland But Not Really Going Anywhere I loved The Amazing Race. It was a lovely melody in my life. Through Season Three I was mesmerized. In many respects Season Four gave me an unexpectedly queasy jolt, a pause, and left me bitter. That's when the show's trajectory started to bend significantly: blaring music; ubiquitous slow-motion edits; a heavy reliance on ghostly voiceovers, and so on. The lyricism faded, sacrificed to what seemed like cookie-cutter entertainment. Cinema Verite died. Survivor: China: Immunity Idol Madness I have no personal animosity towards Jaime, or Peih-Gee, but they both handled their past strategic whims with such a peculiar lack of style or seriousness that any sort of tragedy that befalls these two would seem to be nothing more than karma coming home to roost.
